This directory contains intermediate image files generated by photohack. In particular, for each RAW file, photohack generates one or more TIFF files as a result of performing RAW conversion with the dcraw program. Intermediate files that are needed to generate the “index” files are also stored here. These files are managed automatically — the only thing that you as a user should notice is that sometimes generating an image is slower than other times, because the RAW conversion is being done again.

This directory can be deleted any time that there is a need to reduce disk space usage. The only penalty is that the next time an image is generated, it may take a little longer.
